Why You Should Take The Road Less Traveled Today

Life is about choices. It’s making decisions, whether right or wrong, straightforward or challenging. Every day we are offered two roads.

One of these roads is simple. It has no hills to climb, no weather conditions to maneuver through, and no hitchhikers to be burdened by.

The other road is full of surprises and is intimidating. It comes with consequences and with great responsibilities. Whichever road you travel is completely up to you, but I will choose the road less traveled.

In life, people tend to go with the flow, so to speak. They follow what their peers or others around them are doing. This only produces carbon copies and kills originality.

It is conforming to society and allowing your creativity to slowly pass on.

Robert Frost once wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

What this means is instead of going along for the ride and being the passenger, take control of your life. Take the high road where no one else is heading.

You can process that any way you want to- maybe it is the art project you’ve been thinking of doing, maybe it is a company you’ve yearned to start…whatever the case, today is your day!

Some people are afraid of the outcome or place their dreams may take them. I can say to those people- fear is a driving force; use it wisely.

Taking a risk is worth everything and more. You may lose sometimes, but you can and you will pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and you will be a better person for it.

Then again, life is not about winning or losing. It is about gaining experience, confidence, and enlightenment.

The road less traveled seems ominous and may appear to be the less attractive route. I can honestly tell you that with my own experiences, this is the highway to success.

You know why? You diverge from the pack and begin to act independently. Acting independently is what boosts creativity and allows you to build character.

This may not seem special, but by straying from the norm, you’re doing yourself a favor.

Your dreams are what will make or break you. You can choose to follow them and jump through hurdles, or you can live your life with regret and disappointment.

Sure, you will always have someone to critique your every move. There will always be someone who will try to tear you down. Don’t let them.

Let their voices guide but not destroy you.

You can always choose your own path in life. There is never an excuse to sit around and watch the world pass you by. There is also never a reason to drag the people around you with them. Always move forward.

You can start by being self-sufficient. Stop relying on others to make your decisions. Stop living vicariously. Start by taking steps to being a better you and grow some confidence! You can always ask around for help, but never expect anyone to be your crutch.

Figure out your goals and what they entail. Write them down. I find that by making lists, I can check off my accomplishments. This not only shows me what I’ve finished, but it gives me a boost of pride. It’s kind of like getting a high-five or gold stars on my chart.

Remember that whatever your choice, it will be exhausting. Reaching milestones is never a simple task. It’s a series of short-distance marathons. You can choose to sprint, but always keep in mind that slow and steady is the key. You should also pack along some road flares, i.e. your list of goals to remind yourself of your reason for this journey.

Once you begin traveling down this road, I suggest getting rid of your rearview mirror. Let go of all negative emotions, thoughts, and people. You’ll need a clear mind for all you’re about to achieve. Being stuck in past issues is like being in the same rocking chair your whole life. You’ll continue doing the same thing, but you will never go anywhere.

By taking the road less traveled, you’ll start to realize that after you pass all obstacles, there is always a reward waiting. You can look at it as the road is your rainbow leading you to your pot of gold. Now, your compensation may not be monetary, but you will always learn something from your trials and tribulations. Without struggle, there is no triumph.

Don’t expect a pat on the back from the people surrounding you. Look internally for recognition. I’ve learned this the hard way, and you might have already as well. Have you ever done an excellent job doing something that was physically or mentally draining and barely got acknowledgement if any at all? Well, leave that all behind you. Again, this struggle, this journey, this road, is all for you. Only you possess the power to begin and to finish.

If you had a superpower, what would it be and why? I know you think this has nothing to do with anything I just said, but believe me. It does. Think about that power and the things you could do with it. Now apply that to your real life dreams. There is always some form of reality behind your wildest dreams. I know if I had a superpower, it would be to be able to stop time. It’s pretty self-explanatory. I may not have this gift, but I sure can manage the time that I do have.

Timing is everything when it comes to taking the road less traveled. You want to make sure you’re prepared, right? It’s about waiting for the most opportune moment and capturing it. It is about seizing the day- Carpe Diem. Every living object on this earth revolves around time, and time only keeps ticking. So when you are making your decisions on which road to take, why not today?
