Energy work: never heard of it? What is it, and why am I calling it a weapon? Let me explain: I have gotten rid of both mine and other people’s inner blocks by using energy work.
It didn’t take long and it often resulted in huge relief, lightness, freedom and the ability to move forward. Finally, a big obstacle to both mine and their happiness was gone.
So what is energy work?
Energy work a variety of methods that are based on the assumption that there is a natural energy flow in the body that gets disrupted or thrown out of balance, for example by painful things we experience.
These imbalances are thought to be stuck in the body in the form of stress, or “negative energy”.
Instead of talking about the problem at length, energy work might use physical touch of acupressure points and meridians, or simply the practitioner’s intention and focus, to clear the energy blocks in the body.
In my experience, the issue brought up by the client often simply dissolves or is greatly diminished.
The best thing about energy work: You can learn to help yourself
To name a few methods and give you an idea of where you could start your energy work adventure: I have tried EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), TAT (Tapas Accupressure Technique) and The Emotion Code, and I’m a certified practitioner in the latter method.
There are many more out there, some of which can be learned with some practice and patience, either through free manuals, books, or seminars (which is the most costly option). If you don’t have the time, energy, patience or interest to learn one of these techniques, you can seek out an energy work practitioner and let them help you with your issue.
‘I feel light and free!’
This is what I often feel after a session and what I have heard from clients many times. To give you an idea of what you can use energy work for: I have done sessions for myself when I was so mad at someone I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
When I felt irrationally scared of an upcoming visit to the dentist. When events in my past burdened me and darkened my outlook on life.
When I simply felt a heaviness, confusion, fear that was hard to describe but made it very difficult for me to be happy and move forward in life.
Usually, I feel like a load has been lifted off my chest after a session.
There is a new feeling about the whole situation, there’s enthusiasm, hope, and a new and uplifting perspective.
I keep having the same thought after many sessions: I am so glad I can help myself so easily! And: Oh, what would I do without it? Where would I be??
The good news is: You can help yourself, too! What have you got to lose but some time?
Two important things to remember
Firstly: Not everything that is called an energy work technique (and not everyone selling it), can be taken seriously. Think for yourself, and make it a rule to spend as little money as possible when trying new methods.
Secondly: Even though it often works, no-one really knows why and how. All the talk about “quantum physics” I have ever heard came from people who didn’t have a degree in physics (but maybe in marketing).
Energy work is not a cure-all
Energy work is NOT a replacement for medical or psychological treatment, and it certainly isn’t the way to go in emergency situations!
When you need medical or professional psychological support, you should always get it – energy work is simply something you can try as a complementary measure.
Always read up about the method and the possible side-effects. And don’t try this on anyone without asking their permission first!
Happiness isn’t your life minus your problems
Now that we’ve got this out of the way, here’s what took me a while to learn: Getting rid of your problems does not in itself lead to happiness.
It is so much easier to be happy when you have freed yourself from a maze of confusion, fear and anger – but happiness is an art we all have to master.
I believe that enjoying life, giving and receiving love, friendship, freedom and knowing what you want are at least as important.
To me, energy work is simply a way of clearing myself of the things that drag me down and away from what I want my life to be.
It makes it easier to be happy and to have the courage to do what is important and meaningful to me.
Doesn’t that sound like the perfect weapon to you?
